Summer Winding Down at CSK

I joined CSK during the first few weeks of Asheville City Schools 2015/16 school year. The kids were still filled with summer time energy. Having to shift gears from vacation mode to structured school life was somewhat of a challenge. At Jones Elementary (where I am most days of the week) we have finally gotten into the swing of things, grabbing our snack, churning out homework and other after school tasks, then playing outside until it's time to go home. As summer officially comes to an end this week, we will begin to say goodbye to sweaty days in shorts and tshirts and hello to cooler days in jackets and pants.

Here's a picture of a summer critter friend we found on the playground at Jones!

Fall will be an exciting time to watch the leaves change and find more critters to play with. We are looking forward to welcoming home a bearded dragon (lizard) at our after school site at Jones Elementary in the near future. The name is yet to be determined but I'll make sure to post pictures of the little guy once he arrives!

Until next time,

Sammy Cunningham
